After a couple years of looking on-and-off into replacement head units for my Accord, I recently decided to finally bite the bullet and bought the most recent HA5206H (G13) off of Amazon. It seemed like the best option to upgrade the aging system my car came with. I'd looked at a lot of other options- mostly ones that act as a "man-in-the-middle" unit that kept the OEM unit, but added an additional Android-based mode to swap to. Ultimately, the touch screen won me over after I considered the idea of navigating the entire interface using the dial or steering controls- I don't think I regret this decision, but I do have some issues I haven't been able to figure out. It seems like numbering them might make the most sense, so here we go-
1) The single biggest issue I'm having is getting the upgraded sound components that come with the EX-L Accord trim (non-Navigation; 2 screen with iMid and touchscreen head unit; separate Bluetooth control box under working. From what I can tell after installing, the front-upper tweeters, the subwoofer in the back under the rear windshield plate, and the speakers next to it all don't function as intended. I've tried moving the subwoofer connection to different channels from the AUX harness as suggested in other posts, but I haven't had any luck getting it working. I tested the subwoofer connection off of the RCA jack with a multimeter (resistance), but I don't get any resistance value- I suspect this is because it is going through other components based on the wiring harness diagrams I have seen; when I test it at the sub itself I get the expected 2 Ohm value. Nothing seems to get it working, and I suspect that this is because the wiring in my car doesn't quite match the pictures I see in the install. I can post some of the pictures of the leftover unused wires and the back of my factory head unit if it helps.
2) Right-side lane view. I imagine this has been asked before, but is there a way to get it to display on the iMid screen rather than the head unit? I'm assuming there is a technical reason it won't work, but I figured I'd ask since I get the backup camera on both screens; I have to wonder how different the data flows are for one to work that way and not the other.
3) Backup camera instability. As I've been wiring and testing the head unit, I've noticed that randomly things would work or not work- most particularly the shifting lines of the backup camera. I'd assume this is from the CAN bus, but what seems odd to me is that other CAN bus features still work- i.e. the lane assist / right lane camera button on the blinker, going into reverse in the first place, etc. I've found if I jiggle the head unit a bit sometimes the turning lines will just suddenly pop up on the screen. Is there a reason this works this way? It seems... Finicky.
4) Last one: the CAN bus based HUD popups. Similarly to above, this seems to be a feature that works sometimes, but for the life of me I can't seem to get it to work consistently. I was fiddling with my car earlier today and suddenly I started getting popups on the bottom section of the display showing changes any time I tweaked AC / climate control / etc. I haven't been able to get it to work like that again. This is certainly not the end of the world if I can't make it work, but it was pretty neat to see the head unit popping up real-time info on cabin changes like that, so I figured I'd ask.
Any help or information that could be provided would be greatly appreciated!
