Tips:
1.
Download above update file via your computer/laptop.
2.
Format USB drive to FAT32 Format.
3.
Copy the file “update.zip”&“hmcu.img” to the root directory of USB drive.
4.
Insert USB drive into the unit via USB cable;
then it will pop up automatically a window of update.
Alternatively, please manually go "Settings > System > System updates/MCU updates" to start the update.
***NOTE:
Please make sure that you have ticked option "Wipe data and format flash!".

Since based on what your advising it is a hardware issue, is not covered under warranty? As in that case unit is defective as it turns on & off radomly/works though screen is back majority of the time. What other options are there, besides me having purchase another unit. Thank you in advance.
@Support Dasaita update installed fine but did not fix the issue. If I watch wifi on my phone, the android auto attempt will drop at the same time the wifi connection attempt does.
I noticed that if my phone is far away, 20 feet or more, wireless works fine. As soon as I get closer it drops.

Please try to do as follows:
1. Re-pair your phone's Bluetooth with the head unit.
2. Enable Android Auto on your head unit.
3. On your phone, turn on Wi-Fi and search for your head unit's hotspot (e.g., "Android-***") to connect.
4. Go back to the Android Auto interface, it should connect automatically.
If no luck, please write a mail regarding to your issue details and indicate your Order Number & Purchase Date in email subject.

@Support Dasaita this did not help but it did give me a clue. After playing with the Hotspot I realized it was creating itself at 5g. Having had many issues with 5g over the years accross many devices I decided to change the Hotspot type to 2.4g. This fixed the problem immediately.
Thank you for the help, and I hope my discovery helps others in the future.
